Roosting Birds on the Island
Pond Heron 200 or so birds are using 3 permanent winter roosts on the Island, I have considered that Chinese and Javan may form separate roosts, the small roost is formed earliest in the autumn and contains less than 10 birds. Birds arrrive here in August, departing in April.
Egrets The Egret roost is approx 1,300 birds, mostly Cattle Egret, 30 Little, 20 Intermediate, 2 Great White and a few Pond heron.
